چکیده

We present an improved version of an earlier Larson-type model of amphiphiles. Detailed descriptions of the algorithms are given and some situations where care must be taken are pointed out We use the model to calculate the condensation transition temperature of amphiphiles in a ternary mixture. The concentration percolation threshold and percolation critical exponent of arnphiphile clusters at the oil-water interface are also calculated

General Patterns of the Phase Behavior of Mixtures of HzO , Nonpolar Solvents , Amphiphiles , and Electrolytes . 2 305

In part 1 of this series (ref 1) we presented a qualitative thermodynamic description of the phase behavior of quaternary mixtures of water, nonpolar solvents, nonionic amphiphiles, and salts. The phase behavior of such mixtures follows general patterns that are essentially determined by the phase diagrams of the corresponding binary and ternary mixtures. In this paper (part 2) the nonionic amp...

A density-functional approach to nucleation in micellar solutions

We present a density-functional theory for binary mixtures of amphiphiles with solvent, placing particular emphasis on the structure and free energy of stable and metastable clusters of amphiphiles in dilute solution. These correspond to micelles ~complexes of amphiphiles with the solvophobic groups clustered in the interior! and vesicles ~spherical complexes with bilayer membranes of amphiphil...

Semi Empirical Calculation of Intermolecular Potentials and Transport Properties of Some Binary and Ternary Industrial Refrigerant Mixtures

In this study the intermolecular potential energies of some environment-friendly industrial HFC refrigerants were obtained through the inversion method which is based on the corresponding states principle. These potentials were later employed in calculation of transport properties (viscosity, diffusion, thermal conductivity and thermal diffusion factor) of some binary and ternary refrigerant mi...

Application of the Ratio Derivative Method in Quantitative Analysis of Samples Dyed with Ternary Dye Mixtures

In this study, a derivative method is applied for the determination of dye concentration in fabrics dyed with tricomponent dye mixtures. The reflectance of spectra of the samples were recorded between 400 and 700 nm. Initially, the obtained (K/S) spectra were divided by the spectrum of a standard sample dyed with two of the components in the ternary mixture and the derivative spectra were calcu...

Molecular Thermodynamic Modeling of Reverse Micelles and Water-in-Oil Microemulsions.

Surfactant aggregation plays an important role in a variety of chemical and biological nanoscale processes. On a larger scale, using small amounts of amphiphiles compared to large volumes of bulk-phase modifiers can improve the efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of many chemical and industrial processes. To model ternary mixtures of polar, nonpolar, and amphiphilic molecules, we dev...
